Reperti di Periplaneta americana (Linné, 1758) in Piemonte (Blattaria, Blattidae). Contributo alla conoscenza
della geonemia di una specie infestante alloctona

Nel presente articolo gli Autori forniscono una serie di segnalazioni circa la presenza di Periplaneta americana (Linné, 1758) in Piemonte. Dall’analisi della letteratura, ad oggi la presenza di questa specie non risulta accertata sul territorio piemontese, mentre ne è ampiamente segnalata la presenza nelle aree costiere e portuali italiane. In un’infestazione analizzata a Saluzzo P. americana è risultata stabilmente insediata da circa 4 anni determinando forti infestazioni sia negli ambienti esterni che negli ambienti interni. In tutti i casi segnalati la presenza è stata osservata in aree industriali o del commercio all’ingrosso e verosimilmente l’introduzione è riconducibile ad importazione attraverso merci o mezzi di trasporto (container) infestati.

Periplaneta americana (Blattaria, Blattidae) (Linné, 1758) in Piedmont, Italy: Contributions toward better understanding the distribution of an allochthonous pest
In the present article the authors report their findings on the presence of Periplaneta americana (Linné, 1758) in the Piedmont region of Italy. Although a survey of the available literature does not ascertain the current presence of this species in the Piedmont, it has been found in other areas of Italy, namely the coasts and in ports. A study of a P. americana infestation determined that the area had been overrun for 4 years, resulting in both indoor and outdoor infestation. All cases where P. americana infestation was observed occurred in industrial or commercial areas in which it was likely that the insects were introduced via infested containers used in shipping.
