1)   Read the text:

A letter from an old friend

54, Market Street San Francisco – USA 4 th September 1999 Dear Janice,

This morning I was tidying the attic when I found a photo of our school days. I don't know if you still live in London, we haven't met for ages. How's your life? Have you fulfilled your dream?

Have you become a journalist? I really hope so!

My life has been quite busy since I left London. After university I travelled around the world for 2 years, using plane, train, bus, car and ….. thumb. I lived for a while in Canada, then in Australia and now I've been living in the USA since 1994. I've been working as a receptionist in a big hotel in San Francisco for 2 years. I enjoy my job very much, but I've never stopped writing. I've been writing every day since I left England. Since 1990 I've published two books of short stories and I've been working for a magazine here in San Francisco for a year.

And guess what? I'm married. Well, I've been married for four years now, that's the reason why I stopped wandering around the world. But we're coming to London in December because I want to start the new millenium with my family.

Hoping to hear from you soon, All my love,

Eve
