ESISTE UN LEGAME INSCINDIBILE TRA RICERCA SCIENTIFICA E DIDATTICA.
A scuola si sviluppano le conoscenze nei vari campi del sapere. Ma queste conoscenze sono frutto della ricerca scientifica compiuta dagli scienziati dieci, cento, mille e più anni fa. Pertanto le conoscenze che si apprenderanno a scuola nei prossimi anni sono quelle prodotte dalla ricerca scientifica che si fa oggi. Compresa quella svolta all’Osservatorio Astronomico della Regione Autonoma Valle d’Aosta.
Anzi, questo processo nel nostro Osservatorio avviene in tempo reale, perché nelle iniziative didattiche sono coinvolti i fisici che questa ricerca la svolgono sul campo, scoprendo nuovi asteroidi e comete del Sistema Solare oppure indagando la misteriosa emissione di energia da galassie lontane miliardi di anni-luce... Conoscenze che contribuiscono a formare il corpus di quello che domani si studierà a scuola e all’università.
Insomma, all’Osservatorio la conoscenza è trasmessa in diretta.

L’impostazione data alla didattica della Fondazione ha permesso di avviare un processo di sviluppo
che, nel tempo, potrà dare anche a questo ambito una struttura analoga a quella di un programma
di ricerca scientifica, con progetti che producono risultati e pubblicazioni da presentare ai convegni
e l’acquisizione nel tempo di competenze specifiche

to open a channel between school and the OAVdA to communicate live both the results and the meaning of scientific research

in the multi-year education activity Saint-Roch Étoiles (2008-2013) pupils from 5 to 12 years old of the “Istituzione Scolastica Saint-Roch” in Aosta are introduced to the world of scientific research through ‘meet the scientist’ sessions

in the education activity Oltre Galileo… La Vallée guarda lontano (2008-2009) 18 years old students of the “Istituzione Scolastica Binel-Viglino” in Pont-Saint- Martin and in Saint-Vincent faced a real problem of scientific research:
the calculation of the heliocentric distance of an asteroid at the opposition from an original data set collected during the research activity at the OAVdA

In the education activity Tutti pazzi per Marte (2007-2008) both teachers
and 18 years old students of the “Istituzione Scolastica Binel-Viglino” in Pont- Saint-Martin and in Saint-Vincent worked together with the physicist at the OAVdA in a real research project: the measure of the distance of planet Mars from Earth with the parallax method during Mars’ approach for 2008 opposition

The education activity Tutti pazzi per Marte was made in cooperation with the University of Milan, Italy, and the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa (ASSA).
Being a real research project, the method developed with students and teachers during the initiative brought to a paper published on an international peer-
reviewed journal:
