Kissimmee river come back to his bed

Kissimmee river (http://www.saj.usace.army.mil/dp/Kissimmee/Kissimmee2.html) is one and only among the river ecosystems of the northern America, but is has been affected by flooding that have extended the alluvial land through the centuries. Between 1962 and 1971 a system of canals was built through the river water flow determining the drying up of the hystorical alluvial land. The most important conseguences of this drying up were a decrease of the winter migrations of fishes and aquatic birds and alteration of the natural ecosystem processes.

The project of restore of Kissimmee river aims to restabilsh the natural biodiversity of the ecosystem, reconstituting the natural river ecosystem, re-establishing the hystorical hydrogeological conditions and recreating the patch of landscape in the river basin.
