Wang Dongting (Wang Xun690) era d’accordo con Xiaobo (Wang Gong691) [sulla necessità di eliminare Wang Guobao]692, [ma] in seguito gradualmente cambiò idea. [Una volta] Xiaobo rivolgendosi a Dongting disse: “[Ma allora] non siete più prevedibile!” Rispose: “Wang Ling ebbe il coraggio di opporsi a corte [all’imperatrice Lü], Chen Ping non proferiva mai parola693, dunque [ti] chiedo, alla fine come pensi che sia andata?”

Quando Wang Xiaobo (Wang Gong) morì, la sua testa venne appesasul Ponte Dahang. Il Gran Consigliere Sima (Sima Daozi694 司馬道子 364-402) ordinò di condurre il carro fino al luogo dell’esposizione, e, scrutando attentamente la testa, disse: “Perché mai avevate così tanto interesse ad uccidermi?”
