LA REGIONE DI TASHKENT – CAPITALE DELL’UZBEKISTAN –
è caratterizzata da vasti altopiani contornati da montagne. Un panorama naturale che si dipana in tutte le direzioni, in-terrotto solamente da alcuni corsi d’acqua – grande risorsa naturale del luogo – che alimentano un’importante centrale elettrica e garantiscono energia alla città e ai tanti piccoli in-sediamenti tutt’intorno. In questo contesto, vicino a un cen-tro abitato a una settantina di chilometri dalla capitale, Bobir Klichev ha realizzato una casa per vacanze per una famiglia di quattro persone. «Cerco di progettare riservando una par-ticolare attenzione al luogo e al tempo, e impiegando mate-riali locali», spiega il giovane architetto che un paio d’anni fa ha aperto lo studio a Tashkent.
L’abitazione è quasi un manifesto di questo modo di opera-re. Appare come il prolungamento del terreno su cui sorge:

moun-tains. A natural panorama that spreads out in all directions, interrupted only by a few watercourses – the great natural resource of the area – which feed an important electric pow-er station, supplying the capital and many small settlements around it with energy. In this context, and near a town some seventy kilometres from the capital, Bobir Klichev has de-signed a holiday home for a family of four. “I try to design tak-ing into account the terrain and time, with the use of local ma-terials and a local cultural code,” explains the young architect, who opened his studio in Tashkent a couple of years ago. The house is almost a manifesto for this modus operandi. It looks like an extension of the ground on which it stands: a simple volume – a parallelepiped distinguished by some

Si inserisce bene nel paesaggio questa casa di pietra che riprende l’architettura dei villaggi montani dell’Uzbekistan, con ampie terrazze, soffitti e pavimenti di legno.
This stone house, which fits beautifully into its surroundings, echoes the architectural style of mountain villages in Uzbekistan: generous terraces, wooden floors and ceilings.

da alcuni vuoti misurati – dello stesso colore della terra, e appoggiato sulla sommità di un pianoro. L’accettazione della peculiare geografia del luogo diventa la ragione di un progetto che si concentra sulla possibilità di offrire ai futuri abitanti una relazione continua ma studiata con la vastità del panora-ma naturale, di volta in volta sapientemente inquadrato dalle ampie aperture che definiscono tre lati del volume della casa. I soli 92 metri quadrati – tra interni e coperti – si distribuisco-no su due piani a partire dal disegdistribuisco-no di una semplice pianta rettangolare. Il piano principale, da cui si accede, ospita il soggiorno e una camera da letto con bagno; un soppalco li-gneo offre un ulteriore spazio per la notte. Alla quota infe-riore invece, in relazione con la piscina, si trova un ambiente indipendente destinato agli ospiti.
Alla casa si accede da una terrazza coperta che è di fatto un prolungamento del soggiorno e un osservatorio sul paesag-gio. La terrazza si estende inoltre allo scoperto sul lato lungo del rettangolo, protendendosi verso la vallata. All’interno il soggiorno e la zona pranzo affacciano sulle montagne. Solo la cucina a vista e la piccola camera matrimoniale – ricavati sotto al soppalco – rinunciano al panorama. Il volume è qua-si interamente di pietra, una pietra di colore variabile cavata direttamente in loco e utilizzata, secondo i tradizionali modi del costruire locale, come materiale portante. La scelta dei materiali e il loro uso, oltre che la semplicità di una pian-ta perfetpian-tamente misurapian-ta in tutti i suoi elementi, fanno di questo progetto un esempio di come un’idea di domesticità possa essere rappresentata efficacemente attraverso la com-posizione di pochi elementi fondamentali. ○

Acceptance of the peculiar ge-ography of the site has become the driving force for a design that focused on the possibility of offering its future inhab-itants a continuous but studied relationship with the vast expanse of natural scenery, skilfully framed by the large openings that define three sides of the volume of the house. Its no more than 92 square metres – between interiors and areas under cover – are distributed on two floors laid out on a simple rectangular plan. The main floor, where the entrance is located, houses the living room and a bedroom with its own bathroom; a wooden loft provides additional space for sleeping. On the lower floor, on the same level as the swimming pool, there is an independent room for use by guests. Entrance to the house is through a roofed terrace that is in fact an extension of the living room and a view-point onto the landscape.
The terrace also runs along the long side of the rectangle through overhanging the valley, this time with no roof. On the inside the living room and the dining area face onto the mountains. Only the open kitchen and the small double bed-room – located underneath the loft – do not have a view of the surroundings. The volume is built almost entirely of stone: a stone of variable colour quarried on site and utilized, in ac-cordance with the local tradition, as structural material. The choice of materials and their use, as well as the simplicity of a plan in which very element is perfectly proportioned, make this project an example of how an idea of domesticity can be effectively represented through the composition of a few fun-damental elements. ○
