Determinare la percentuale di austenite residua su particolari sottoposti al trattamento termico di Ce- mentazione, Tempra e rinvenimento.

1. Scope

Determine the retained austenite percentage on parts subjected to the heat treatment of Case hard- ening, Hardening and Tempering.

2. Applicabilità

La presente procedura si applica a tutti i particolari carbocementati.

3.Materiali, attrezzature e strumenti Materiali:

• Resina termoindurente fenolica

• Carta abrasiva grana 180

• Carta abrasiva grana 320

• Carta abrasiva grana 800

• Panni da lucidatura

• Sospensione diamantata 9 µm

• Sospensione diamantata 3 µm

• Sospensione diamantata 1 µm

• alcool isopropilico o etilico

• Nital con concentarzione al 2% o 4%

Attrezzature:

• Troncatrice metallografica

• Pressa inglobatrice

• Lucidatrice metallografica Strumenti:

• Microscopio metallografico

2. Applicability

This procedure refers to all case hardened parts.

3. Equipment Materials:

• Thermosetting phenolic resin

• Abrasive paper grit 180

• Abrasive paper grit 320

• Abrasive paper grit 800

• Polishing cloths

• Diamond Suspension 9 µm

• Diamond Suspension 3 µm

• Diamond Suspension 1 µm

• Isopropyl or ethyl alcohol

• Nital with concentration at 2% or 4%

Tools:

• Abrasive cut-off machine

• Pneumatic mounting press

• Metal polishing machine Instruments:

• Metallographic microscope

Eseguire una sezione trasver- sale allo strato cementato del pezzo da sottoporre ad analisi, sulla troncatrice metallogra- fica.

Execute a cross-section at the hardened layer of the piece to be subjected to analysis, with the abrasive cut-off machine.

Posizionare il provino sezio- nato sulla pressa inglobatrice.

Place the sectioned specimen on the pneumatic mounting press.

Ricoprire il provino con resina fenolica.

Cover the specimen with ther- mosetting phenolic resin.

Eseguire la cottura della resina fenolica.

Execute the baking of the phe- nolic resin.

Estrarre il provino inglobato ed eseguire marcatura con il co- dice assegnato all’analisi.

Remove the embedded speci- men and mark it with the code assigned to the analysis.

Montare il provino sulla lucida- trice metallografica, quindi ini- ziare l’operazione di sgrossa- tura con carte abrasive grana 180, 320 e 800 in successione.

Mount the specimen on the metal polishing machine, then start the roughing operation with abrasive paper grit 180, 320, 800 in succession.

Eseguire lucidatura di finitura utilizzando panni e sospensioni diamantate da 9 µm, 3 µm e 1 µm, per ottenere una superfice lucidata a specchio.

Execute polishing finish using polishing cloths and diamond suspension 9 µm, 3 µm e 1 µm, until you get a polished mirror

surface.

Su provino lucidato eseguire attacco chimico con Nital.

Execute the chemical etching on pol-ished specimen with Nital.

Lavare accuratamente il pro- vino attaccato con alcool iso- propilico o etili-co.

Thoroughly clean the etched

specimen with the isopropyl or

ethyl alcohol.

Eseguire l’osservazione del provino attaccato con micro- scopio metallografico con in- grandimento 500X, per verifi- care in prossimità della super- fice la presenza dell’austenite residua.

Observe the etched specimen to the metallographic micro- scope with magnification 500X, in order to check the presence of retained austenite near the surface.

Acquisire un’immagine a 500 ingrandimenti ed eseguire il confronto con immagini tipo.
