In conclusione questo lavoro di Tesi descrive per la prima volta il comportamento fusogenico delle cellule NS in seguito a trapianto

intracerebrale in topo adulto. Questa caratteristica potrebbe essere sfruttata al

meglio ed utilizzata come mezzo per veicolare materiale genico ai neuroni

endogeni, ma soprattutto potrebbe essere sfruttata per scopi terapeutici, come

già dimostrato per il fegato (Vassilopoulos et al., 2003), e contribuire alla

sopravvivenza di neuroni danneggiati in seguito a lesioni o malattie

neurodegenerative oppure per effettuare una sorta di terapia genica allo scopo

di sostituire geni ‘malati’ alla base di molte malattie genetiche che

coinvolgono il cervello come la Corea di Huntington.
