Als Handelsstadt hat Bozen eine sehr lange Tradition: 820 Jahre, urkundlich belegt.
Die Bozner Jahrmärkte wurden nämlich 1202 erstmals in einem Zollabkommen erwähnt, das die Fürstbischöfe von Trient und Brixen abgeschlossen hatten. Diese hatten von 1027 bis 1800 einen Großteil der weltlichen Gewalt im Land inne. Märkte
wurden schnell zu einem wichtigen Treffpunkt für süddeutsche und norditalienische Kaufleute, die hier in den Anfängen vor allem Wachs, Pferde, Tierhäute, Leder,
Olivenöl, Wein und Gewürze kauften und verkauften.
LA TRADIZIONE DEI MERCATI
Bolzano ha una lunghissima tradizione come città commerciale: 820 anni, documentati ufficialmente. I mercati annuali di Bolzano furono menzionati per la prima volta nel 1202 in un accordo doganale concluso dai principi vescovi di Trento e Bressanone.
Essi hanno detenuto gran parte del potere temporale della regione dal 1027 al 1800.
I mercati divennero presto un importante luogo d'incontro per i commercianti della Germania meridionale e dell'Italia settentrionale, che nei primi tempi compravano e vendevano qui soprattutto cera, cavalli, pelli di animali, cuoio, olio d'oliva, vino e spezie.

Bolzano has a long tradition as a trading hub: over 820 years of documents tell us so!
The Bolzano trade fairs were first mentioned in 1202, in a customs agreement concluded by the prince-bishops of Trento and Bressanone. They held a large part of the secular power here from 1027 to 1800. Markets quickly became the meeting place for southern
German and northern Italian merchants, trading wax, horses, animal skins, leather, olive oil, wine and spices in the early days.

Zentraler geht’s nicht. Der Bauernmarkt am Rathausplatz jeden Freitagvormittag und der Biobauernmarkt jeden Dienstagvormittag stellen einen wichtigen Treffpunkt dar. Und der Blick hinauf auf das turmbestückte Gebäude (1907), Sitz des Bozner Gemeinderats, Stadtrats und Bürgermeisters, ist beim Einkaufen auch ein Blick auf Bozens Entscheidungsträger*innen.
Niente è più centrale: ogni venerdì mattina, il mercato dei contadini in Piazza del Municipio è un importante luogo di incontro in pieno centro cittadino. Lo stesso vale per il mercato biologico dei contadini il martedì mattina. E vuol dire fare la spesa con un occhio sul maestoso edificio (1907), dove risiedono gli organi decisionali della Città, dal Consiglio comunale di Bolzano, alla Giunta e al Sindaco.
It doesn't get more central than this. The farmers' market in Piazza Municipio every Friday morning and the organic farmers’ market every Tuesday morning are both an important meeting place. And the view up to the towered building (from 1907), is not only the seat of Bolzano's mayor and council, but it also overlooks Bolzano's other decision-makers as they shop.

Mazziniplatz, in der Europaallee, am Casagrandeplatz, und freitags am Don-Bosco-Platz. Besonders begehrt die veredelten Schmankerln aus der Bauernküche.
Non solo nel Centro storico di Bolzano: mercati dei contadini molto amati vengono allestiti anche - come vediamo qui - il martedì in Piazza Mazzini, in Viale Europa e in Piazza Casagrande, e il venerdì in Piazza Don Bosco.
Particolarmente apprezzate le prelibatezze preparate nelle cucine dei masi.
Farmers' markets are not only in Bolzano’s old centre, but as you can also see here: on Tuesdays, at Piazza Mazzini, in Viale Europa, at Piazza Marcella Casagrande; and on Fridays, at Piazza Don Bosco. The rustic delicacies from farmhouse kitchens are particularly popular.

Freitags am Bauernmarkt Rathausplatz gibt es neben Obst und Gemüse auch veredelte Produkte, Honig & Co., hier das Beispiel der Hofkäserei am Ebenhof in Steinegg im nahen Eggental. In Steinegg findet, übrigens, das Summer Nights Festival statt (mehr dazu im bm-Sommerheft!).
Il venerdì al mercato contadino in Piazza Municipio si possono acquistare non solo frutta e verdura ma anche prodotti alimentari freschi e naturali come miele e altro. Ecco l'esempio del caseificio agricolo al maso Ebenhof a Collepietra nella vicina Eggental. Un posto magico, dove si svolge il Steinegg Live Summer Nights Festival, del quale leggerete nell’edizione estiva del nostro magazine.
On Fridays at the farmers' market in Piazza Municipio, you can not only buy fruit and vegetables from the province, but also other fresh, natural produce.

Jeden Samstag ist Bozen Schauplatz von Feilsch-Geschäften und Schnäppchen in der Zone um den Siegesplatz mit seinen Arkaden. Dem großen Wochenmarkt müssen dann selbst die städtischen Busse weichen, die einen Alternativparcours ansteuern. Kleinere Wochenmärkte finden auch in den Stadtvierteln Platz, jeweils an anderen Wochentagen.
Ogni sabato, un grande mercato settimanale anima la zona intorno a Piazza della Vittoria e ai suoi portici. Persino gli autobus urbani devono seguire un percorso alternativo per fare spazio ai numerosi banchetti che offrono merce di ogni tipo. Mercati settimanali più piccoli sono disseminati anche nei restanti quartieri della città, ognuno in un giorno diverso della settimana.
Every Saturday, Bolzano’s Piazza alla Vittoria and surrounds become the scene of intense haggling and bargain hunting. It’s such an institution that when it’s on, even the city buses have to be re-routed! Smaller weekly markets can also be found in the city’s districts, on different days of the week.
