La vecchia raccomandazione di evitare il parto vaginale e di programmare un taglio cesareo per evitare l’emorragia intracranica fetale legata alla piastrinopenia è oggi considerata errata in tutti gli studi e linee guida.

Il fatto che molte gravidanze esitino in TC per ragioni ostetriche, soprattutto per preeclampsia precoce, e che molti neonati siano effettivamente piastrinopenici, non inficia le precedenti conclusioni, ma indica soltanto che spesso lo stesso fattore causale (preeclampsia) può determinare i diversi effetti: piastrinopenia materna, necessità di taglio cesareo e piastrinopenia della prematurità.
