Concludendo, possiamo affermare che la somministrazione del Kavolì® (1g/kg p.v.) ha portato ad un miglioramento della steatosi epatica confermato dalla diminuzione del contenuto lipidico. Inoltre questa Brassica oleracea var. acephala ha dimostrato di possedere un’attività antiossidante ed antinfiammatoria a livello del fegato poiché migliora il quadro di progressione da NAFLD a NASH, caratterizzato da alti livelli di stress ossidativo, presenza di infiltrato infiammatorio e produzione di citochine pro- infiammatorie.

La somministrazione di due mesi di dieta ipelipidica non sembra provocare stress ossidativo nel colon. A livello dell’encefalo invece, si ha un forte evidenza di stress ossidativo portato dalla dieta iperlipidica e dall’iperglicemia. È noto da tempo infatti che il sistema nervoso centrale sia particolarmente vulnerabile al danno da radicali liberi, se confrontato con altri tessuti. Le proprietà benefiche dell’estratto di Kavolì® mostrano un effetto antiossidante anche in quest’organo.
